File Safety & Privacy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
Every tool on imgresize.io works on your own device. This page explains what that means for each kind of file, and simple habits that keep your files private everywhere — not just here.
How image processing works
When you open a photo in any tool — resize, compress, convert, crop, background removal, collage — your browser reads it into memory and edits it right there. The edited copy is created by your device and saved straight to your downloads.
At no point is the photo sent over the internet. You can even load the site, turn off your Wi-Fi, and keep working.
How PDF processing works
PDF tools — create, merge, extract pages, reduce size, and text recognition — read the document in your browser the same way. Pages are rendered and rebuilt on your device. Reducing a PDF saves each page as a picture, so keep your original if you need the highest quality.
How Live photo videos work
The Live photo tool builds your video frame by frame in the browser and saves it directly to your device. No AI service is involved, no credits are used, and the photo is never uploaded. On Firefox the video is saved as WebM; other browsers save MP4.
What “nothing is uploaded” really means
- We have no server that receives your files — there is nothing to hack, leak or subpoena.
- Your files never appear in our analytics. We only count anonymous tool usage.
- Closing the tab clears everything from memory. Nothing lingers on our side because nothing ever reached our side.
Tips to keep your files private
- Keep originals. Always keep the untouched original before compressing or converting.
- Check before sharing. Photos can contain hidden details like location data; review what you share and with whom.
- Use official portals. When submitting exam or visa photos, upload only on the authority's official website — check the address bar carefully.
- Lock your device. On-device privacy only goes as far as your device's lock screen.
- Clear downloads you no longer need, especially on shared computers.
If something goes wrong
If a tool produces a broken file or behaves unexpectedly, your original is untouched — simply try again. You can report the problem through the Contact page so we can fix it.
